I’ve lost access to the EOS account attached to my Eden membership profile. How do I recover my Eden account?
While there’s little we can do to help you regain access to an EOS account whose keys have been lost or stolen, the Eden Chief Delegates can help you associate your Eden profile with a different EOS account that you have control over.
To do so, reach out to one or more of the Chief Delegates for assistance.
Here’s what will need to happen:
- Someone will need to propose a multisig (msig) transaction consisting of a
genesis.eden::rename
action.
- The action will need to specify:
- the old/lost EOS account as
old_account
- the new/replacement EOS account as
new_account
- The msig proposal must specify a requirement for authorization from both of the following:
- the
board.major
permission of the genesis.eden
account
- the new/replacement account (usually
active
permission)
- This means that the new/replacement account AND >2/3 of the current Eden board members will need to sign the transaction before it can be executed
- The Chiefs will take whatever measures necessary to verify your identity and prevent fraud.
Is this secure? How are fraudulent recovery requests prevented?
One of the key differentiators of Eden is strong, decentralized identity / KYC. Every Eden profile links to a video/audio onboarding ceremony in which the person behind the account must speak on camera. Furthermore, accounts are associated with social profiles from other social networks.
Chiefs, when evaluating an account recovery request, may:
- ask you to join recorded, video conference calls to interview you
- compare the video conference calls with other available Eden videos in which you make appearances (induction or election videos)
- discuss your account recovery request with other Eden members who invited you, witnessed your induction ceremony, or who otherwise know you
- reach out to you via social networks listed on your Eden profile
- reach out to you via other, known methods
What will happen to my delegate rank?
Your delegate rank will not be affected. For example, if you were a Chief when beginning the account recovery process, you will still be a Chief after account recovery process.
